Nemi Strawberry Festival

looking for a sweet way to spend a day in Nemi. Visit the Nemi Strawberry Festival (Fragolare). This year is the 90th year of the celebration. Held the first Sunday in June since 1922.
The wild strawberries of Nemi are know for their vibrant color, intense smell and their sweet taste. The town of Nemi is a picturesque town nestled southwest of Rome. Nemi is not only famous for their festival, they also have a picturesque lake Nemi which sets as a backdrop for this historic town.
The Nemi Strawberry Festival (Sagra della Fragola) is an annual celebration in Nemi, Italy, held on the first Sunday of June, featuring traditional costumes, strawberry-themed food and drinks, and a parade of "fragolare" (strawberry pickers).

11:00 am we enjoyed a parade with a local band. Young ladies dressed in local ethnic attire walked the streets in the parade.
After the parade we walked to have a sweet treat. I ordered a tart with strawberries and whip cream. You will find a farmers market.  Vendors selling this years harvest of strawberries, home made good, local wine, extra virgin olive oil and souvenirs.
The Strawberry Festival closes with fireworks at 11:00pm

Keep in mind when planning your trip, its a short distance from Rome. You can easily make this a fun day trip, even if its not festival season. Nemi is a cute town with cobblestone streets and a romantic atmosphere. I definitely recommend spending some time here.
