There are some places that leave a lasting impression long after you've returned home, and Niagara Falls is definitely one of them. As one of the world's most famous natural wonders, Niagara Falls is a destination that deserves a spot on every traveler's bucket list.
This adventure was actually spread across two separate trips. On one visit, we explored the Falls with my sister and her husband, and on another, we brought along our son, Ellis. Both trips were filled with laughter, sightseeing, and unforgettable memories.
While living in Ottawa for three years, we often welcomed visiting family and friends. Niagara Falls was always one of our favorite destinations to share, and every visit felt just as magical as the first.
Cadillac Motel: Retro Charm Near the Falls
I have to admit, I'm not usually a motel person. However, the Cadillac Motel completely won me over.
We booked our stay because of its fun vintage atmosphere, and it did not disappoint. The motel is clean, colorful, and full of character. If you love retro-chic accommodations that bring back memories of classic roadside inns from the 1950s and 1960s, this is the place for you.
Each room has its own unique theme, inspired by vintage Cadillacs and pop culture icons such as ZZ Top, Ghostbusters, and Marilyn Monroe. Its location is another major bonus, placing you just minutes from Niagara Falls and the attractions of Clifton Hill.

Hilton Niagara Falls: Incredible Views for the Whole Family
For a completely different experience, we also stayed at the Hilton Niagara Falls.
We booked a spacious family suite featuring two bedrooms, a large bathroom, a cozy fireplace, and breathtaking views of the Falls. One of our favorite memories was watching the nightly fireworks display from the comfort of our room.
If you're looking for comfort, convenience, and spectacular scenery, the Hilton is an excellent choice.

Niagara Falls State Park
Niagara Falls is one of the world's most spectacular natural attractions, shared by both Canada and the United States.
Be sure to return in the evening when the Falls are illuminated in a stunning array of colors. On select nights, visitors can also enjoy a fireworks show, making the experience even more magical. Check out the schedule here

Maid of the Mist
Warning: You will get wet!
Of course, that's part of the fun of the famous Maid of the Mist boat tour. This unforgettable experience takes you remarkably close to the Falls, allowing you to feel the power and beauty of Niagara firsthand.
Getting soaked by the mist is all part of the adventure and makes for memories you'll never forget.

Souvenir Shopping in Niagara Falls
No visit to Niagara Falls would be complete without picking up a few souvenirs. The area is filled with gift shops offering everything from keychains and mugs to T-shirts and locally themed keepsakes. Whether you're looking for a small memento or a gift for family and friends back home, you'll find plenty of options throughout Clifton Hill and the surrounding areas.
Clifton Hill: The Street of Fun
If you're traveling with children, Clifton Hill is a must-visit destination. Known as the "Street of Fun," this lively area is packed with attractions for the whole family.
From restaurants and gift shops to arcade games, rides, and entertainment, there is never a dull moment. We loved spending time exploring the area and soaking up the energetic atmosphere. There truly is something for everyone, making Clifton Hill the perfect complement to a day spent at the Falls.
A Sweet Stop on the Way Home
After all the excitement, it was time to begin our journey home. Before heading back, we made a stop at one of Ontario's most famous roadside attractions—The Big Apple.
The property also features a small farm where visitors can feed goats and pigs, making it a fun stop for families traveling with children.
And of course, no trip through Canada would be complete without a stop at Tim Hortons. We couldn't leave without sampling some Timbits—those irresistible bite-sized doughnut holes that Canadians know and love.
It was the perfect sweet ending to a memorable weekend exploring the Falls. Niagara Falls is much more than a waterfall. It's a destination filled with natural beauty, family-friendly attractions, memorable accommodations, and experiences that appeal to travelers of all ages.
Whether you're visiting for a weekend getaway or introducing family and friends to one of North America's most iconic destinations, Niagara Falls never disappoints.
Until next time Canada 🇨🇦
