If you’ve been following us for a while, you know how much we love escaping the big city to explore smaller, charming towns nearby. Our latest adventure took us to Civita di Bagnoregio one of Italy’s most enchanting hidden gems. The easiest way to reach Civita di Bagnoregio is by car. From Rome, it’s roughly a two hour drive through the beautiful countryside. If you’re traveling by train, you can take one to Orvieto, then hop on a bus or taxi to Bagnoregio. There’s ample parking near the entrance just follow the signs.

There’s a small 5 entrance fee per person, which goes toward preserving the town. For the best experience, plan to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon the light is magical, and you’ll avoid the large crowds.

Stop and savor a local dish.

 By midday, we were ready to sit down and savor local flavors.  Trattoria Bruschetteria La Cantina di Arianna was the perfect find. Delicious hearty pasta, and warm hospitality made for an unforgettable meal. We shared the white wild boar ragu and a plate of prosciutto. Our late lunch was absolutely delicious. 

Civita di Bagnoregio may be small, but its magic is immense. It’s a place where time slows down, history whispers through every stone, and beauty greets you at every turn. If you’re exploring central Italy, don’t miss this extraordinary hilltop gem while in Italy.
