Christmas Market Tallinn, Estonia

There is something magical about Christmastime in Tallinn. Old Town turns into a real life snow globe. Join along as we experience all of Tallinns magic during this festive time of the year. Once we got settled in we headed straight to the heart of Old Town's medieval square. Right in the center of all the festivities you will find one of Europes most beautiful Christmas trees. A tradition that dates back centuries. With snow dusted rooftops, twinkling lights and the sent of gingerbread in the air. Tallinn's Market is one not to be missed.

Make sure to try a cup of Gloġi, Estonia's mulled wine, fragrant with cinnamon, cloves, and a hint of berry.

Next we headed to the outdoor ice rink Uisupark Ice Rink near Freedom Square. Lace your skates and enjoy the cool breeze. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon in Tallinn.

After skating, we wandered back into the Old Town’s maze of cobblestone streets and stumbled upon Pierre Chocolaterie, one of Tallinn’s most charming dessert havens. Hidden in a courtyard, it looks like the kind of place where a novelist might hide away to write a winter romance.

Inside, the atmosphere was warm and eclectic—vintage décor, candlelight, and the smell of real chocolate. We both ordered a decadent dessert paired with a cup of thick hot chocolate, it was the perfect post-skating reward.

That evening we attended Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and seeing it performed on the grand stage of the Estonian National Opera feels nothing short of magical.

After the ballet we headed over to Restaurant Pull for a delicious meal. The local flavors are a highlight of our trip.

To finish off the day, we headed to Junimperium, a cozy gin bar in the Telliskivi district known for its inventive cocktails. Their seasonal menu did not disappoint. I chose a winter cocktail infused with spices, citrus, and a dash of their signature gin—festive, aromatic, and wonderfully warming.

From the timeless beauty of The Nutcracker to the charm of Tallinn’s Christmas Market, from the thrill of skating to the indulgence of chocolate and craft cocktails—this day captured everything we love about the season.

If you’re looking for a Christmas experience that feels both magical and authentic, Tallinn should absolutely be on your winter wanderlist.

Cheers to a magical day spent in Tallinn🎁
