New Orleans is my husbands home town.
Every time we go I look forward to seeing a little part of his childhood.
New Orleans is a culturally diverse unique town. Laid back spirit and proud of their NFL team the Saints. You can just walk down the street and hear people chanting "WHO DAT?"
It's famous for its many bars, jazz clubs and restaurants. Did I mention you can grab a cocktail in the French Quarter and walk around the city!
Cheers to that!
Here is a list of some of our favorite
Places to Eat, Drink, Tour & Stay!
Cafe Du Monde Places to Eat, Drink, Tour & Stay!
One of my favorite places visit in New Orleans is Cafe Du Monde.
I have sweet dreams about the powder sugar and their delicious coffee. The Beignets are made fresh to order. They are Square fried pillows of deliciousness covered in powder sugar.
Top that off with Coffee Au Lait
(mixed half & half and hot milk)
You are sure to be in Heaven!
Tip: Make sure to bring Cash, No Cards!
Deanies
Deanie's is one of my personal favorite places to eat in Nola. I'm a seafood lover and the shrimp sauce and seasonings is to die for!
You can expect mouthwatering delish shrimp, oysters, fish and so much more.

If you would like a different experience in NOLA try a cooking class. Years ago my sister and I took this class and I knew my husband would love it too.
New Orleans School of Cooking is located in the French Quarter. We took an open demonstration class where we prepared a classic Cajun/ Creole meal. We also learned a lot about the rich culture and history of the dishes we prepared. You get to take home all the recipes.
So you can try the dishes at home.
Super fun and entertaining.

Take a Swamp Tour down the Bayou
Take a boat ride down the bayou. We headed down the bayou early in the morning. We headed out about an hour to the town of Slidell. It was chilly the morning we took our tour. Our tour guide had tons of information on the Eco System as we glided through the Honey Island Swamp.
We were able to see exotic birds, raccoons, wild boars, snakes, turtles, black bears and of course Alligators.
Take a Walking Tour of the City
Where to Stay
We try to stay at the same "Hotel Chain" as much as possible. Our favorite is Marriott.
Mardi Gras weekend are universally known for being some of the most expensive weeks in NOLA. Since we used "Points" our hotel was basically FREE!
I LOVE Free!!!!
The A Loft Marriott is located in the Business District. The streets on this side are a little less crowded. The Hotel has Hip and Trendy Vibes. The rooms are spacious and full of light. The bedding and pillows are super comfortable.
