24 hours in Reykjavík

We started our trip to Iceland in Reykjavík.
Reykjavík is located on the coast and is the country's capital and largest city.
Reykjavík is famous for its vibrant nightlife, restaurants, family friendly museums and an overall eclectic vibe. You will find lots of gift shops with local handmade goods, cozy coffee shops, Pubs and lots of street art. The city is surrounded by incredible nature and is one of my favorite cities to date.
We spent one night at the
Ion-City Hotel
boutique hotel located right in the heart of the city, close to all the attractions and restaurants.
We are Marriott (Bonvoy) members and got this room free! We only needed it for one night in Reykjavík. So it was perfect!
We were even treated to glass of champagne upon arrival.
Which was much appreciated after a LONG day of travel.
After we got all settled in our room we began exploring this corky and vibrant city. Lots of the streets and walls are painted with fun murals.

We stopped to have lunch at Reykjavík Street Food.
When you visit Iceland make Sure to add this place to your list of "Places to Eat". The restaurant is not fancy but its absolutely delicious and full of flavor.Head upstairs for a nice view of the
Rainbow Street Mural.
What did we order?
-Seafood Soup-
-Fish and Chips-
-Egils Gull- (local Beer)
Rainbow street mural is Located on Skólavördustígur Street
If you follow the Rainbow all the way up you will find the Hallgrimskirkja Church. Both a church and a national sanctuary.
It's the tallest church in Iceland standing at 244ft tall, and has became an important national symbol.

We made our way down to The Sun Voyager.
A large steel structure located by the seaside of central Reykjavík. One of the most visited sites in the Capital.
We later in the evening stopped to eat at Federiksen Ale House
A local pub with a wide selection of beers and cocktails.
We shared the fish and chips. A relaxed restaurant to enjoy our evening. You may even catch a local band playing.
I don't think a trip is complete to Iceland if you don't shop for a traditional Icelandic sweater. You will have many stores to shop from.  Make sure to shop the Second Hand shops too, you may just find a unique vintage sweater.
