One day in beautiful Verona, Italy

Falling in Love with Italy’s Most Romantic City

There’s nothing quite like a road trip through Italy.  The open highway, the rolling vineyards, and the smell of romance in the air. A city made famous by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet but loved for so much more. Verona instantly felt different from Rome — smaller, quieter, but no less captivating. We parked near Piazza Bra, home to the incredible Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheater that’s still used today for operas and concerts.

From there, we decided to explore on foot. Verona’s historic center is compact, walkable, and best enjoyed without a map. Cobblestone streets twist past pastel-colored buildings with wrought-iron balconies overflowing with flowers. Every few steps, we found a new reason to stop — a charming café, a hidden courtyard, or a piazza alive with locals chatting over espresso.

 Lunch with a View

Midday we decided to stop to have lunch at Berbere Pizzeria a small pizzeria tucked along Via Mazzini, one of Verona’s main shopping streets. Sitting at a sidewalk table, we ordered a delicious pizza. And of course we added a crisp beer.

A Visit to Juliet’s House

No trip to Verona is complete without a visit to Casa di Giulietta, Juliet's House. Just off Via Cappello, you'll find a small courtyard filled with love notes, locks and a steady crowd of romantics.

At the center stands the bronze statue of Juliet, her right breast polished from decades of visitors rubbing it for luck in love. Above the courtyard, the famous balcony overlooks the scene the supposed inspiration for Shakespeare’s legendary love story. It’s a bit touristy, sure, but undeniably charming. Whether or not Juliet ever lived here doesn’t really matter the feeling of romance in the air is real.

Our  road trip from Rome to Verona turned out to be the perfect mix of adventure and romance. Verona isn’t just a city for Shakespeare fans  it’s a place that captures the soul of Italy itself: passionate, beautiful, and effortlessly timeless. If you’re planning a trip to Italy, make time for Verona. Whether you’re walking through its ancient streets, sharing pizza in a sunlit piazza, or visiting Juliet’s statue, you’ll understand why this city has inspired love stories for centuries.

Ciao, Ciao
from the city of Love 💋🥂
